SERMON                                                    Pastor Wesley Menke

HYMN OF DAY* May this Church be like a Tree       ACS 1042

APOSTLE’S CREED* Lector

With the whole church, let us confess our faith.

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried;

he descended into hell.

On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven,

he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church,

the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

THE PRAYERS*       Lector

Let us offer our prayers for the church, those in need, and all of creation.

A brief silence.

Almighty God, we pray for the church and all servants of the gospel. Equip rostered and lay ministers to proclaim the love of God. Hear us, O God.

Your mercy is great.

Gracious God, we pray for creation. Preserve the mighty tree and the tiny mustard seed, let us be advocates for sustainability. Hear us, O God.

Your mercy is great.

Compassionate God, we pray for the nations. Instill in the governed the desire to organize for good and to promote peace. Hear us, O God.

Your mercy is great.

Merciful God, we pray for all in any need. Protect those fleeing from war, and heal the sick especially:

07/23

Jenny Brooks, needs peace and confort in the hospital (Thoms)

07/16

The Rytel family, dealing with the passing of Joel Rytel (Uhlers)

Annelia’s sister Delilia , thyroid cancer diagnosis.

Snyder family health issues.

Jennifer, healing and answers.

Julio Arencibia, heart attack recovery (Uhlers)

Hear us, O God.

Your mercy is great.

Eternal God, we give thanks for your saints who now rest from their labors. Inspire us by their witness. Hear us, O God.

Your mercy is great.

Into your hands, O God, we commend all for whom we pray, in the name of the one who reconciled all creation to himself, Jesus Christ our Savior.

Amen.

PEACE

The peace of Christ be with you always. And also with you.

MEAL

OFFERING

It is gathered for the mission of the church, including the care of those in need.

OFFERING HYMN “Holy Spirit”

Holy Spirit living Breath of God

Breathe new life into my willing soul

Let the presence of the risen Lord

Come renew my heart and make me whole

Cause Your word to come alive in me

Give me faith for what I cannot see

Give me passion for Your purity

Holy Spirit breathe new life in me

Holy Spirit come abide within

May Your joy be seen in all I do

Love enough to cover ev’ry sin

In each thought and deed and attitude

Kindness to the greatest and the least

Gentleness that sows the path of peace

Turn my strivings into works of grace

Breath of God show Christ in all I do

Holy Spirit from creation’s birth

Giving life to all that God has made

Show Your power once again on earth

Cause Your church to hunger for Your ways

Let the fragrance of our pray’rs arise

Lead us on the road of sacrifice

That in unity the face of Christ

May be clear for all the world to see

OFFERING PRAYER*

God of desert and mountain, springs and space, you are the creator. Sustain us with these gifts of your creation. Amen.

GREAT THANKSGIVING*

The Lord be with you.

And also with you.

Lift up your hearts.

We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

It is right to give our thanks and praise.

It is indeed right,…

we praise your name and join their unending hymn:

SANCTUS*

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of pow’r and might,

Heaven and earth are full of your glory, full of your glory.

Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highest.

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highest.

THANKSGIVING AT THE TABLE*

LORD’S PRAYER*

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
