John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, so that whoever believes in him won’t perish but have eternal life.” Too bad this verse gets used like a hammer on people, “believe in Jesus or go to hell.” I’d like to offer another interpretation.

  1. For God So Loved the World – So should we. We want the Earth to be good place.
  2. That he Gave his Only son – So should we. Give our loved ones freedom to be themselves.
  3. That whoever believes in him – actually believes him. More important that thinking that Jesus is number one, is living like Jesus and thinking about what he said and did.
  4. Won’t perish but have eternal life – starting now. Heaven isn’t just about after we die, it’s about quality of life now.
