The focus of the Youth Sunday School using today’s gospel, John 3:1-17, was of the role Nicodemus plays in all of our lives. In the leader’s research from the ELCA Faith Lens and The Life Application Bible, Nicodemus came to see if Jesus was the real deal. Was Jesus all that Nicodemus was hearing about? We know Jesus is, but looking through Nicodemus’ eyes allowed the youth to ask that question to themselves. If each youth can say yes, Jesus is the real deal, then that leads them right into John 3:16 and allowing all that Jesus is to influence them in their daily lives. With so many outside influences, the leader asked if all of those influences were leading them closer or further away from Jesus. The last item discussed was God’s name, “I am” and that if we are too walk with Jesus, then “We are” here to help Jesus save the world.
